Facelift Your Water

Water is good for your body no matter what. What else can you consume unlimited amounts of? Drinking water promotes proper blood circulation, food digestion, and the flow of nutrients.

About 60% of the body is made of water, so how can we not love it? Water is very important to our wellbeing and we need to make sure we are getting our daily intake. If you aren’t sure how much water you should be drinking every day, here is a chart to find out! Some of you may be reading this thinking “I know water is good for me but I simply don’t like the taste.” You are not alone. If you’d rather pick up a soda instead of water, we have found the answer to solve your addiction to artificially sweetened and flavored drinks.

Infused water is something that tastes great and can help you get your daily water intake. All you do is simply add whatever kind of fresh herbs and fruit you want to your water and you’re done! There are SO many variations you can choose from to make your water taste amazing. Here are some of our favorites – and of course they have fresh herbs in them, why wouldn’t they?

Adding fresh herbs and fruit is an easy and fun way to spice up your everyday boring water. Not only does it taste great, there are also health benefits that come with it! One benefit is that it can help clear up your skin. The reason being is that drinking infused water with the freshest ingredients can help flush out all those toxins in our bodies, leading to clearer and healthier skin. It also fills you up so that you aren’t picking up those unhealthy snacks throughout the day. Plus, if you’re drinking infused water, you aren’t drinking soda. Big win! If you still don’t want to give up your soda because you love the carbonation, here’s a good tip for you: try adding your desired mix of fresh produce to sparkling water! This way, you won’t have to give up those bubbles you love so much AND you will get all the same benefits.

This is also a great fix if you are having a hard time getting the kiddos to drink more water. A fun project is to let them pick out what fresh and healthy flavors they want in their water. This lets them be a little creative and it will be something they want, especially if they make it. You can make your infused water by the glass or make it in a pitcher and keep it in the fridge for easy access all day. If you are the kind of person who is on the go, here is a great infused water bottle you can take with you and simply refill all day.

Adding just fresh herbs to your water has many varying benefits as well. Mint can help aid in weight loss by stimulating the digestive enzymes. These enzymes absorb the nutrients from food and turn the fat into usable energy.

Basil contains a compound called eugenol which has anti-inflammatory properties. One benefit of rosemary is that it might help reduce your cough. So if you are feeling a little under the weather, put some rosemary in your water and let it work its magic!

If you didn’t know, sage can actually help with digestion because of the rosmarinic acid found in the plant. Last but not least, thyme is great for boosting your immunity because of its high levels of vitamin C.
