Thyme
Warm and woodsy, thyme is widely used for its hominess. Although thyme is most popular in its dried form, the herb has a better flavor when fresh—offering the perfect blend of savory, sweet and spicy notes. North Shore’s living thyme is packaged with the plant’s roots still intact, which preserves the herb’s earthiness. Effortlessly elevate your cooking with our fresh thyme at your fingertips.
Care Instructions:
North Shore Living® thyme is sure to become a kitchen staple. When kept in the refrigerator with minimal water, thyme thrives. We cultivate our living herbs to the highest quality in our state-of-the-art greenhouses, ensuring they stay fresh when you bring them home. Enjoy them in your next culinary creation, but never replant them.
Flavor, Benefits & Kitchen Tips:
Thyme is a mild herb that fuses citrus and spice notes. Beloved for its versatility, thyme is known to pair perfectly with poultry, but also elevates seafood, salads, soups and stews. Additionally, our thyme enhances the flavor of vegetables and doughs with its warmth. As an herbal remedy, thyme works wonderfully: essential oil can resolve respiratory problems; natural stress and anxiety reducer; and when ingested, thyme can act as an anti-inflammatory agent.
When cooked, thyme’s flavor becomes less distinct. In order to maximize its flavor, try using North Shore’s thyme in its fresh form—stems and all. Our thyme’s tender leaves bring new dimensions to the classic herb. When using our thyme, remove a portion from the root ball, wash it and pat it dry. We recommend mincing it finely, or even using a full sprig. When a recipe calls for dry thyme, one part dry is equal to three parts North Shore. With North Shore’s thyme, the taste of comfort is always close by.
